Overview of Services

The Proteomics and Protein Analysis Core of the Biocenter Oulu offers service to researchers in academia and industry at local, national and international level and is headed by Professor Lloyd Ruddock, Faculty of Biochemistry and Molecular Medicine at the University of Oulu. It consists of three facilities, each coordinated by a senior scientist:

1. Biophysical protein analysis and amino acid analysis

• Analysis of real-time protein-ligand interactions
• Measurement of thermo-dynamical parameters
• Study of protein/peptide secondary structures and stabilites
• Amino acid composition analysis

       2. Mass spectrometry

• Characterization of proteins from gels
• Analysis of full-length proteins
• Analysis of protein mixtures

       3. Proteomics (two-dimensional gel electrophoresis, 2-DE)

• Large-scale screening of protein levels in complex protein extracts
• Study of specific protein isoforms
• Detection of protein modifications
